About TIAT

The Trulife Institute of Applied Technology (TIAT) is an intensive, weeklong educational opportunity designed to prepare both beginners and experienced fitters to more effectively perform within their scope of practice. It delivers practical techniques and strategies to better prepare individuals and their organizations.

Based on the idea of Samuel Higby Camp to provide “Education Before the Sale”, the TIAT has provided continuous educational programs since 1929. The 2005 edition of the school is presented in multi-media programs, practical demonstrations and supervised hands-on fitting labs for each attendee.

The learning outcomes include knowledge of basic orthopedic anatomy and the awareness of
indications for various classifications of supports and orthoses. Attendees also learn hands-on skills to appropriately fit and educate clients to best serve them, their referring physician, and your facility. The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) and/or the Board for Orthotic and Prosthetic Certification (BOC) have certified all instructors serving on the TIAT faculty. They bring expertise to both the classroom and the fitting labs that will help the new fitter learn and will benefit even the most experienced fitter.

As state licensure and CMS regulations change our business environment, TIAT is the perfect tool to start on the road to certification. Reimbursement agencies also are looking for the level of formal training of individuals actually doing the fitting. The full TIAT program is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of all outside agencies. ABC, BOC, BCP, and NATA all recognize the Trulife school and offer credits for successful completion of the course.

The TIAT is a cost-effective avenue for fitters at all levels to add value to their employers.
The comprehensive curriculum is designed to cover the entire scope of practice usually
assigned to fitters.
